Economy vs. environment - no question about winner in Harper's world
“We cannot allow valid concerns about environmental protection to be used as an excuse to trap worthwhile projects in reviews-without-end,” Stephen Harper said in a meeting of Latin American leaders in Colombia this week. While he coats his comments in the platitudes of responsible science, his government demonstrates the opposite - deny the science in favour of economic development. No question about that later during his speech, “we believe in Canada that we have found the way to transform resource assets into a sustainable foundation for equitable national development.” At what cost?
