I never learned to play one but the banjo is my favourite stringed instrument.Earl and his late partner Lester Flatt were the best pickers in my opinion.
Earl was an incredible player. I watched him over the years and it seems that he got better & better. Hard to imagine that it all started for him with Foggy Mountain, the tune that caused him to split with Bill Monroe and head out on his own. He and Flatt did a great job together.
