Earlier this weekend, I wrote an item entitled “Trash Begets Trash”. It was a commentary on the sad state of journalism today, highlighted by the shameful circumstances surrounding the phone hacking scandal committed by the Murdoch newspaper operation in England. One quick update: there is a report today that one of the most senior members of the Murdoch operation, Rebekah Brooks, former editor of the News of the World, has been arrested as part of an investigation into allegations of phone hacking and bribing police.
I just finished reading a blog entry by a young reporter named Kai Nagata, who until a few days ago was the Quebec City bureau chief for CTV News. His blog entry is about why he quit that job. While he has the self-centered, mercenary ideology I find common in young reporters, he also provides some interesting personal insight into the journalism profession today. I posted Kai's essay on FB about a week ago, Veep. I wonder where he will end up? He is so young but I do admire his principles.
As to the arrest? I wonder where it's all going as these merchants of sleaze were so in bed with the politicians.
And Rupert, head prefect, is still bleating innocence while his sidearm swings in the breeze?
More will be revealed or spun for us, the slavering masses.

WWW, some interesting insights yesterday into the inner workings of the Murdoch empire. I don’t think anyone was fooled by Rupert’s pleading of ignorant innocence and less so by Rebekah Brooks’ similar pleadings. Today’s performance by David Cameron is bound to bring more questions, especially around the hiring of Andy Coulson. All this does is confirm in the finest way that power corrupts.
