They don’t realize how irrelevant they have become

The catholic church once was important to me. Not any longer. The scandals that have wracked the church for the last 20-years plus the questionable sincerity of the sudden contrition on the part of church leaders have led me to become a non-practicing catholic. The recent revelations concerning the current pope, Joseph Ratzinger and what appears to have happened during his reign as archbishop in Germany just adds more to the mess. There are a bunch of old men in lace in Rome and elsewhere who still see themselves as being the ultimate authority in the catholic church. They don’t realize how irrelevant they have become.
